What is Tuina?

Tui Na massage is a form of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that has been practiced for over 2,000 years. Tui Na, which means “push and grasp” in Chinese, is a manual therapy that involves using various hand techniques. It stimulates the body’s energy channels, or meridians, increases blood circulation based on modern anatomy and physiology and promotes holistic healing.

Tui Na massage was developed as a non-invasive alternative to acupuncture, which involves inserting needles or applying pressure to the body to stimulate the meridians. Over time, Tui Na massage became an integral part of TCM, and was used to treat a variety of health conditions, including musculoskeletal pain, frozen shoulder, headaches, digestive disorders, and respiratory issues. Tui Na massage was also used to promote overall health and well-being, as it was believed to balance the body’s energy and promote the flow of Qi (life force energy).

Today, Tui Na massage is still widely practiced in China and around the world. It is often used in conjunction with other TCM therapies, such as acupuncture and herbal medicine, to provide a holistic approach to health and healing. Tui Na massage has also gained popularity in the West in recent years, as more people seek natural and non-invasive forms of healthcare.
